Agneta P. Turner
Feb. 17, 1934-Aug. 6, 2024
Portola Valley, United States

Agneta Chatarina Elisabeth Pontin Turner (1934-2024)

Agneta P. Turner, a devoted matriarch and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Her remarkable life, spanning 90 years, was marked by love, resilience, and a generosity of spirit that touched countless lives.

Born on February 17, 1934, in Stockholm, Sweden, Agneta spent her formative years in her family home. She pursued higher education at Cambridge University (1952) and the University of Lausanne (1953), where she met her future husband, John. By 22, she had married, adoringly supported John through medical school and residency, and started a family.

Agneta's greatest joy was nurturing her family and welcoming others into her circle. She lovingly supported her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, offering guidance and encouragement. Her warmth and inclusivity extended to all who she met, many she “adopted” as her own.

For over 30 years, Agneta was a respected antique dealer in San Francisco, owning her own shop, Elliott Pontin Antiques. She volunteered for various organizations, including the Woodside Atherton Garden Club, Allied Arts Guild, Tally Ho, Menlo Charity Horse Show, SWEA, and Peninsula Family Services. Her passions included floral arranging, gardening, bridge, jazz, cabaret, and travel.

Agneta is survived by three children, six grandchildren, and six great-grandsons. Her husband John, daughter Jean, son Peter, brother Jan Pontin, and sister Eva Anderberg predeceased her.
