Wolmuth, Caroline Buckwalter

November 16, 1941 - July 30, 2025

Caroline Wolmuth was the eldest of three sisters she is survived by Louise Rising and Irene Thomas. Raised in Palo Alto, California by parents Betty and Richard Buckwalter (deceased).

With a creative flair she was a social convenor of many fun and elaborate parties. After studying fashion design at Pratt University in NYC she married Warren Wolmuth in 1964. The newlyweds resided in SanFrancisco’s Marina district before emigrating to Canada where they had one son Derk Wolmuth born in Vancouver.

In 1973 they moved to Victoria, BC. where they stayed and she graduated from the University of Victoria in the Visual Arts. Clothing design, Ikebana, and cooking were her expressive modes where she experimented with ever evolving colour, form, and taste.

She played recorder for decades in musical ensembles. She also started a business with her best friend Christine Packford called ‘Paper Works’ where they made party decorations and costume jewellery.

She traveled the world and was especially fond of Venice, Italy and Carnival where she designed inventive costumes for her friends and herself. She was generous and open-hearted taking many under her wing, living with passion and a flourish she will be missed by many.
