Charles Alexander "Chuck" London passed away at the place of his birth, Stanford Hospital, Palo Alto, Calif., on May 26th, 2011, in a peaceful transition surrounded by loving family. He was 70 years old.
Chuck grew up in Palo Alto, graduated from Stanford University in 1963 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and received a master's degree from San Jose State University in 1965. He settled in the Bellevue, Wash., area in 1966, where he worked for Boeing until retiring in 1996.
As a young man, Chuck loved skiing, judo, boxing, and continued his love of sports into his later years with an unrelenting attachment to the golf course. He played the guitar and piano, and loved to sing. He was known as the guy who could fix anything electronic and was building and repairing computers before anyone else had heard of a personal computer, having been instrumental in bringing electronic timing to the hydroplane races, and in Boeing's implementation of PCs in the workplace.
But Chuck's deepest and most abiding interest was his family and friends. He was there when anyone needed him, greeting every situation with a touch of wisdom and humor. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and loved them dearly.
Chuck was the eldest son of A.L. London, Stanford University Professor Emeritus. He was preceded in death by his parents, A. Louis and Charlotte London of Palo Alto; his brother, Allen London of San Rafael; and his granddaughter, Genoa London. He is survived by his three daughters, Colleen London, Angela London and Melissa London; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister, Deborah Beukers; and many friends.
Chuck wished his friends and family to gather in a happy celebration of his life, and that wish will be honored at a Memorial Life Celebration, to be held at 11 a.m., July 9, in Renton, Wash. Those wishing for more information, to send memories or condolences, may email londonmemorial@yahoo.com.
