Colin Charles Eldridge
Nov. 8, 1919-April 19, 2011
Menlo Park, California

Submitted by David C. Eldridge

56-year resident of Menlo Park proceeded in death by his wife Marian Edgar Eldridge and eldest daughter Wendy Eldridge Gansereit, passed peacefully at home on April 19, 2011 after a seven year battle with Parkinson?s beating the odds of ?no tubes, no rice, no mush?. Our father, a graduate of Cornell University, worked for the Burlington and Western Pacific Railroads, retired as Chief Transportation Engineer for the Bechtel Corporation. Although he worked as a Mechanical Engineer he was a true practitioner of ?People Engineering? helping all with his integrity and a finite attention to detail, building friendships all over the world. He is survived by his daughters Mary Joy Parker, Carol Root, and Marjorie Eldridge, sons David and John Eldridge, his sister, Anne Strickland Longman of Aptos, Ca. along with 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and lives on in the railroads and trains he helped build and the people he befriended worldwide.

My mother, Helen Daingerfield Eldridge, was his first cousin. They were very close. Together they traveled the country. We called them Fric and Frac. Cousin Colin will be sorely missed.
