Dennis D. Reichardt
May 28, 1943-Aug. 31, 2007
San Carlos, California
Dennis Reichardt, a longtime Peninsula resident, passed away at his home in San Carlos on Friday, August 31, 2007, following a courageous 7 year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He was 64.
Dennis was born May 28, 1943, in Waukegan, Illinois, and first moved to Redwood City with his parents in the mid 1950s. He attended Sequoia High School with the Class of 1961, graduated from Brigham Young University in 1968, and earned an MBA from Golden Gate University in 1972. On August 23, 1964, he married Sharon Baker, with whom he shared great love and the remaining 43 years of his life.
After a 20 year career in Corporate Finance, Dennis returned briefly to his true passion, Real Estate Development, before falling ill.
His service to the community included 10 years of coaching AYSO and CYSA youth league soccer in Portola Valley, and 5 years on the Portola Valley planning commission between 1986 and 1991.
An avid long distance runner, Dennis completed 4 marathons, and also accomplished his goal of running a distance equal to the circumference of the Earth.
In 1989, he and his son traveled to Germany to witness the fall of the Berlin Wall, a spur of the moment trip that his family recalls as characteristic of Dennis' strong will and belief in doing what one sees as important in life.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, his daughter and her husband, Randylin and Victor Polich, his son and his girlfriend, Reid Reichardt and Kathy Mok, two grandchildren, Sydney and Tyra, and his Golden Retriever, Curtis. These loved ones were all by Dennis' side at the time of his death. He will be loved and remembered forever.
We would like to thank Ana, Ema, Patrick, Karen, and all others who stood with Dennis and his family as caregiver, nurse, or friend during these last years of his life.
