Edith Weiser
Nov. 21, 1926-Sept. 26, 2026
Palo Alto, California

Edith (Kossak) Weiser, long-time resident of Palo Alto, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, surrounded by family. She was two months shy of her 100th birthday. She will be long remembered for her humor and generosity. Edith was known by family and friends as having unwavering high standards, with a life built on thoughtful, good habits, and sharing a boundless love for family and friends. She loved gardening and created beautiful, parklike outdoors from barren earth into breathtaking, park-like sanctuaries.

Edith was born in Vienna, Austria to Emma Kossak. She relocated to London in 1932 where she became a seamstress for English servicemen during World War II and then as a pattern maker and dress designer. She met the love of her life, Bruno, in the beautiful city of Salzburg, Austria, in 1950, and they married in 1952. They emigrated to San Francisco in 1956, where they formed many close friendships. In 1968 the family moved to Palo Alto, where Edith established her business as an electrologist.

After retiring in the 1990s, Edith enjoyed time with family and friends at the mountain cabin she and Bruno built in Cold Springs, California. For many years, she swam morning laps at Rinconada Pool before taking up yoga at the community center and downtown Palo Alto. She loved dancing, volunteering at Avenidas, and she and Bruno attended many events in San Francisco and Palo Alto where they could waltz together. They also enjoyed traveling, exploring most of the United States in a camping van during retirement and taking cruises and tours of Europe, Mexico, China, and other countries. Wherever they went, Edith and Bruno made new friends.

Edith was predeceased by her loving husband, Bruno. She is survived by her children, Lorna Naugle (husband: Phillip), of Tracy, California, her son, Reinhard Weiser (wife: Joan Grant), of San Mateo, California, and her grandchildren Erika Mallory (husband: Justin) of Tracy, California, Andrea Nelson (husband: Michael) of Pleasanton, California, Daniel Weiser of Bow, New Hampshire, and Sydney Weiser (husband: Emmanel Fonseca) of Ben Lomond, California, and her great grandchildren, Arleigh and Camille Mallory, and Connor and Brendan Nelson, and her sister, Margarethe Tichler of Vienna, Austria.

The family especially wants to thank Khivi Care and Hope Hospice of Livermore for their care and support.
