Evelyn Stoops, 98, passed away on June 20, 2016 at Sequoia Hospital, Redwood City, CA.

Born to Harold A. and Mary A. Mortola in Sausalito, CA on August 19, 1917, and raised in both San Francisco, CA and Woodside, CA along with her Sister, Sr. Marie Julie (Marcella Mortola) Dominican Order, who preceded Evelyn in death.

Evelyn was a graduate of Notre Dame High School class of 1934 in San Francisco, CA. Her Great Grandparents arrived in Woodside, CA around 1850, and she made her permanent home there in 1945 after marrying Stephen E. O’Leary (deceased) of San Francisco, CA, and had three children. Stephanie Klingele of Oroville, CA. Marsha McCarthy (Gilbert Warren) of Santa Cruz, CA and Stephen O’Leary (Lori) of Baja, Mexico. She subsequently married Dewey Stoops until his passing in 1977.

Evelyn began her career in Banking in San Francisco, CA. She later had a very successful Property Management/Real Estate career spanning over 50 years in Redwood City, San Carlos and Belmont and later became a Real Estate Broker.

Upon her retirement at the age of 93, Evelyn was one of the longest serving members of the San Mateo County Board of Realtors.

At various times, she volunteered in Church Clubs and Brownie/Girl Scout Troops. She was a devout Catholic and life-long parishioner at Our Lady of the Wayside, St. Marcella’s Mission and Mt. Carmel Churches.

Along with her children, she is survived by four Grandchildren, Kevin Klingele (Josi) of Texas, Rebecca Marill (Ed) of South Carolina, Dane Jensen (Alisha) of Belmont, CA, Taylor McCarthy of Santa Cruz, CA, seven Great Grandchildren, numerous Fox Family Cousins and devoted family friend/colleague Tom Huff of Redwood City, CA.

Rosary will be held on Monday evening, June 27th at 7:00 pm at Redwood Chapel, 847 Woodside Road, Redwood City, CA. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 28th at 10:30 am at Mt. Carmel Church, 300 Fulton Street, Redwood City, CA. Graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery, Santa Cruz Avenue, Menlo Park, CA
