Gilman Allen Gray, Jr., 65, passed away at his home in Dallas, TX on May 15, 2022.
Gil was born on May 2, 1957 in Dallas, Texas, to the late Gilman Allen Gray, Sr. of Breckenridge, Texas and Elizabeth Ann (Davis) Gray of Corsicana, Texas.
Gil graduated from Marshalltown High School in Marshalltown Iowa in 1975. He attended UC Santa Barbara and was a member of the track team for two years, competing as a decathlete. Gil graduated from San Jose State University in 1989 with a B.A. in Political Science.
After Gil’s graduation from San Jose State, he became a house painter in the Bay Area while deciding where his true interests lay. Eventually Gil’s professional pursuits started as a sales representative working out of Dallas, Texas, for San Francisco-based men’s clothing company, Louis Raphael. Following his time at LR, Gil became the Rocky Mountain States sales representative for pharmaceutical concern, Parke-Davis. Gil was based in Grand Junction, Colorado during his tenure there. Gil eventually returned to the Bay Area and went to work for a division of McKesson, as a specialist in Workplace Health and Safety Training. When Gil decided to return to Texas, he went into business for himself as an independent Workplace Health and Safety trainer.
Gil was a great conversationalist, with a great sense of humor; he was humble and supportive, and a lover of his family. He is survived by his four brothers: Ned Gray, Brook Gray, Timothy Gray and Daniel Gray.
Gil was also a beloved uncle to his nieces, Emily (Gray) Martin and Elizabeth Gray and nephews, Brook Gray and Hayden Gray, as well as brother-in-law to Vicki Gray, Patti Gray and Stephanie Gray.
Gil was an avid guitar player, who loved to sing. He had a superb talent for impressions. Gil enjoyed long rides on his motorcycle in the mountains surrounding the Bay Area. He was an excellent golfer, a bona-fide film aficionado. And, of course, Gil was never without a Big Gulp — one was always within reach.
Gil will be missed.
