Gretchen G. Warren, 67, a longtime Los Altos Hills resident, died of Alzheimer's Disease Sept. 18.
She was born in Boulder, Colo., and married her Palo Alto High School sweetheart after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley. She taught first and second grades in the Mountain View-Whisman School District for several years. In 1986 she received her masters degree in marriage, family and child psychology from Santa Clara University. She volunteered and worked for the Community Health Awareness Council in Mountain View, then became a supervisor at Child Advocates of Santa Clara County.
She served as PTA president at Bullis-Purissima School for two years and as a Girl Scout troop leader for many years. She also ran a snack bar for the Los Altos Aquatic Club.
She loved to travel throughout Europe, particularly in England and Italy.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Warren of Palo Alto; son, Mark Warren of Los Altos Hills; daughter, Leslie King of Los Altos; sister, Cece Montgomery of Menlo Park; and four grandchildren.
