James Nickolas Bartosh
April 30, 1943-Sept. 8, 2024
Palo Alto, California

James Nickolas Bartosh left this world on Sept 8, 2024 in San Jose, after suffering from dementia. He was born in Chicago into a family of Russian heritage. He attended Chicago City College and studied chemistry. From there his family moved to Oklahoma, and then ultimately to Palo Alto. He served the community for thirty years as a clerk at Walgreen’s in downtown Palo Alto and then at the Midtown store on Middlefield. He attended Trinity Episcopal Church and then St. Bede’s Episcopal Church, all the while serving in the choir as a Russian bass. Here he is acting in the Book of Daniel.

Jim lived life the best he could with courage, generosity, and joy from spending time with others. He loved astronomy, Star Trek, and could recite the periodic table. He also loved to impersonate movie stars, such as Jimmy Stewart, and dress up at Halloween. His gregarious personality infused everything he did. Above all, he was caring to all and felt deeply.

He is survived by his siblings, Darlene Bartosh and William Bartosh.
