Juliana Marie Crozier
July 1, 1934-April 14, 2011
Palo Alto, California
Julie Crozier was born on July 1, 1934, in Hibernia, N.J., a small town in northern New Jersey, the youngest of 11 children. She excelled in sports during her high school years, worked summers as a lifeguard, and attended Montclair State Teachers College (now Montclair State University) in New Jersey.
Julie moved to California in 1957 and settled in Palo Alto, where she was married and had two daughters. She continued her education and graduated from San Jose State University, while working full time and raising two children. After working for Hewlett-Packard for 16 years, Julie realized a lifelong dream to teach, and returned to school to obtain the required certifications. Julie taught business courses to adults, and later, English as a second language. For 20 years Julie provided "homestay" for dozens of foreign students from a local language school, and most recently tutored students at St. Elizabeth Seton School.
Julie loved to travel and visited over 30 countries in six continents, and made many friends along the way. She also loved to read, go to the movies, and work in her yard where each spring she planted a vegetable garden. Her other hobbies included collecting rocks, stamps and coins. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and remained an active volunteer for the Church and community.
Julie is survived by two daughters, Kelly Leary of Mill Valley, and Kimberly Crozier of Carmel; four grandchildren, Ryan and Nicole Leary, and Paige and Jake Barger; two brothers, Andrew Konecnik of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Edward Konecnik of Franklin, NJ; several nieces and nephews, and her devoted cat.
Thankfully, Julie spent her last days in her own home, peacefully surrounded by friends and family, her cat, memories of her many trips overseas, and photos of her beautiful grandchildren.
