Laura "Ginger" Tanner
Jan. 15, 1942-Nov. 6, 2024
Menlo Park, California

Ginger Tanner passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024 at the age of 82 in Menlo Park, CA, where she lived for 35 years.

Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Ginger enjoyed horseback riding and cheerleading at HV Cooper High School before moving to New Orleans to attend Newcomb College. After graduating from Newcomb, Ginger enrolled in Tulane Law School, where she met and married Robert “Bob” Morris. Ginger and Bob practiced law and started a family in Houma, Louisiana.

Ginger enjoyed gardening, playing social and competitive bridge, volunteer work, founding a women’s investing club, spending time with cherished friends and taking care of her family.

After Bob passed away in 1986, Ginger met and married Ted Tanner of Menlo Park, California. Ted and Ginger were inseparable for 32 years running a moving business, remodeling their home, traveling the world, and cheering on Stanford teams until Ted passed away in 2020.

Mrs. Tanner leaves behind daughters Laura Redmond (John) and Genevieve Morris, Ted’s children Mary, John (Susan) and Richard (Nicole) Tanner, daughter-in-law Lise Tanner, her sister Helen Sturgis, beloved nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren (Molly, Ted, Jack, Grace, Bobby, Juliet and Peyton) and great grandson, Charlie. She is preceded in death by her husbands Robert (Bob) Morris and Edwin (Ted) Tanner, her parents Dr. and Mrs. Preston Street Herring, her sister Sherrill Benjamin and Ted’s youngest son Russell.

Ashes will be interred in the Memorial Garden at Trinity Church in Menlo Park.

For those who may be inclined, the family suggests donations be made to your charity of choice in lieu of flowers or to organizations that Ginger supported during her life: American Red Cross, Alzheimer's Association, Parkinson's Foundation, I AM ALS, Team Gleason and The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Ginger’s caregivers Yeny Ramirez and the staff of Oakmont Senior Living and Suncrest Hospice.
