Lesley Ann Carter, beloved daughter, sister and friend to all, passed on September 29th, 2022, at the age of 48 in Los Angeles after a short but sudden illness. Lesley is survived by her mother Jan Carter Marshall, stepfather Don Marshall, sister Jordan Marshall, Nana Loretta Leppo, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
When Lesley was 3 years old, she was in a serious car accident resulting in Lesley sustaining injuries to her spine leaving her a paraplegic. Lesley spent the rest of her life using a wheelchair.
Lesley grew up in Palo Alto and because of her injuries she spent most of her childhood in and out of Lucille Salter Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. Lesley attended Juana Briones Elementary, JLS and Gunn High School. Lesley became the Northern California Easter Seal Society Poster Child. Along with her mother and Aunt Robyn Kizer, they worked the Easter Seal Telethon televised on KRON TV in 1986 helping to raise thousands of dollars to send disabled children to summer camps.
Despite her disabilities Lesley had a zest for life and was able to drive, travel extensively, ski, swim and attend concerts which was her favorite thing to do. She attended many Hollywood award shows and has met several celebrities throughout her life which she loved.
Despite concerns from her family Lesley moved to Chatsworth, CA with her dog in 2018 as it was her dream to always live in the Los Angeles area where she was born.
Lesley was an animal lover and always had a dog or dogs and she loved them immensely. Lesley gave to several animal rescue charities. Because of Lesley’s generous nature she was an organ donor with One Legacy, and they were able to find matches for her kidneys that went to 2 deserving women in California.
Lesley will be remembered for her love of animals, her great sense of humor, her fierce independence and most of all, despite her disability she was able to overcome countless obstacles and live a full, happy, independent life.
