Mary Louise Riviello
Nov. 1, 1933-July 10, 2014
Menlo Park, California

MENLO PARK, CA ? Mary Louise Franceschini Riviello, 80, passed away July 10, 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Mary was born November 1, 1933, in Stanford, CA, to Margaret Fabbro Franceschini and Angelo Franceschini. She graduated from Notre Dame de Namur High School in Belmont, California, and attended Notre Dame de Namur College in Belmont, California.

Mary was devoted to the Catholic faith and a member of The Church of the Nativity in Menlo Park, CA. as well as the St. Raymond Choir and the Clef Hangers.

Her bright smile will be remembered by many from her work as hostess at Fabbro?s Restaurant in Redwood City, where she worked for many years. She was deeply committed to her community: She was a past board member of Notre Dame de Namur, an active member of the Peninsula Volunteers, and past president, founder and member of the Peninsula Children?s Auxiliary of Palo Alto, CA.

She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She lived life with grace and class and never had a bad word to say about anybody. She was truly a "Saint." She was a "mom," "friend," and "confidant" to her wide circle of friends and family.

The best times of her life were on a walk in the neighborhood or on the tennis courts, where she served a "mean" ball.

She found her best friend and love with Victor Rosasco during the last years of her life. They had a full calendar but she always had time to talk with old friends, make a new friend and keep in touch with the diverse lives of her children and grandchildren and extended family.

Her biggest challenge in life came at the end when she stayed strong and went on to her "next" adventure on her terms!

Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband of 39 years, Cosmo A. Riviello, as well as her second husband of five years, Salvatore Fazzino. She is survived by her partner of four years, Vic Rosasco, and her children, Michael A. Riviello of Atherton, CA, and his partner Walter E. Chumley of Shreveport, LA., and Susan Subbotin Riviello of Burlingame, CA; Marc J. Riviello and his wife Regina A. Riviello of Atherton, CA; and Thomas A. Riviello of Tucson, AZ;

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Taylor M. Riviello of Salt Lake City, UT, Katherine M. Riviello of Burlingame, CA, and Anthony J. Riviello and Dominic B. Duarte, both of Atherton, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mary?s name be made to the Peninsula Volunteers, Achieve Kids or The Riviello Scholarship Fund at Menlo School.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 3:30 pm at Nativity Church in Menlo Park, CA.

A.M.D.G.

May the road rise to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face.

May the rains fall soft upon your fields

and until we meet again,

May the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand.

You pray for me,

As I pray for thee,

That we may meet merrily in heaven.

I just heard that Mary had passed away more than two years ago. She was like a second mother to me when I had moved to the Bay Area. Took me under her wing and always made sure I was OK. Had some wonderful talks and lunches with this gracious and ...
