Michael Ying-Wu Lin, a resident of Vista Verde Way, Portola Valley, CA for 49 years died on January 26, 2025 surrounded by family he loved. A native of Tainan, Taiwan, after high school he came to the United States in 1953 to further his studies. He graduated from Monterey Peninsula College in 1956 and then graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.S.E.E. in 1959. He worked for MEC (Microwave Electronics Co.) in Palo Alto from 1960 to 1966 as a RF/microwave engineer and became a US citizen in 1962 working on defense contracts. He joined the Watkins-Johnson Company in Palo Alto in 1966 as a member of the technical staff and became a staff scientist. In 1983, he was promoted to the director of Microwave Device Sales - International Operations.
He traveled extensively overseas and had many contacts and friends worldwide. He was fluent in English, Japanese and Chinese which was an asset in his international business. He prided himself in developing lifelong friendships with people all around the world. He enjoyed working in his yard and socializing with family and friends.
He’ll be laid to rest at Skylawn Memorial Park in Half Moon Bay on February 10, 2025. According to his wishes, he will be surrounded by friends and family at his service. Condolences can be sent by email to michaelylin33@gmail.com.
