Rosie Cole, a.k.a. Rivera Rozella Boyd Cole, passed away at Silverado in Belmont Hills, California on December 29th, 2023 after living with dementia for about five years. She was born February 1st, 1936 In Los Angeles, California to Walter Newlin Boyd and Bertha Brodie Boyd. She had one younger sister, Milana, who preceded her in death in 2011. Rozella met Creswell C. Cole Jr. while they were both attending Stanford University. They married in 1955. In 1957 daughter Karen came along, and son Creswell Chapin Cole III followed in 1959. They lived in Menlo Park. Rosie joined the Peninsula Volunteers in 1960 and dedicated herself diligently to their mission of serving the local community, with an emphasis on the senior population and their specific needs. In 2010 she was recognized by the PVs as a member of the Golden Circle for her 50 years of service. She also had a short-term career with the Menlo Park branch of Wells Fargo Bank. She began as a teller and moved up to Assistant to the Investments and Securities Broker. Rosie was a skilled seamstress, a talented craft maker, gift wrapper, home decorator, cook, and gardener. She enjoyed travel at home and abroad, as well as co-teaching ballroom dance classes with Cres for the San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department. She is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Cres Cole, recently of San Jose, California, her daughter, Karen Cole Baumgarten of Medford, Oregon and her son, Creswell Chapin Cole III of San Jose, California. She is also survived by six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
