Robert (Bob) H. Barr

Bob Barr passed away in his sleep on Jan. 23, 2018 at the age of 90.

Bob was born in San Francisco on March 19, 1927. He attended Lincoln High School in San Francisco and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Bob married Florence Barr in 1952 and was married for 23 years. He resided with his family in Daly City, California, moving to Menlo Park, California in 1963 then to Palm Desert, California in the mid '90s. After the death of his father in his teenage years, Bob developed a robust work ethic. After his military discharge, he worked for a short time for Yellow Cab then Easterday Supply in San Francisco. In 1961 Bob joined Allied Maintenance Corp. where he became Senior Vice President responsible for operations in the Western U.S. In 1976 Bob founded Reliable Building Maintenance in Redwood City serving customers throughout the Bay Area. By the early 2000s Bob enjoyed retirement, although he continued to operate a small business until 2015. Bob was an avid golfer and tennis player and continued his daily tennis until 2016. He was a member of Sharon Heights Country Club in Menlo Park for over 40 years. Bob enjoyed his times at the club supporting his golf and tennis regimen and developed many long time friendships. While Bob was an active sports participant he was a Giants and 49ers fan. He especially cherished his business and personal relationships with the 49ers in the '80s and mid '90s. Bob loved his annual vacations in Hawaii. Bob is survived by his daughter Laura Strauss, son Rick Barr, grandchildren Nathan and Jonah Birnbaum and Melissa Barr.
