William Alfred Tincher
Nov. 26, 1918-Dec. 9, 2012
Cupertino, California

Much beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather Bill Tincher passed away at his home at The Forum at Rancho San Antonio in Cupertino a few weeks after celebrating his 94th birthday.

Bill was born in Owatonna, Minnesota. He graduated from Northwestern University where he was a very active member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He served with the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy during WWII, attaining the rank of Major. On his return he attended the University of Wisconsin Law School. He met his wife Nancy there and after they graduated in 1948 they practiced law in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

They moved to California in 1951 and settled in the Bay Area. Bill and Bill Reed founded Reed Tincher mortgage brokers in Palo Alto. He taught mortgage finance at Foothill and DeAnza Community Colleges. He went on to work for First Security Bank of Salt Lake City until he retired in 1984.

What his family and friends remember most about Bill is his wonderful laugh, his stories and his sense of humor. He loved to sing and knew all the words to his favorite songs from the '20s, '30s and '40s. He sang in The Forum Chorus for many years. His Midwest values of honesty, hard work and commitment defined how he lived his life. His advice to his family was: Always do the right thing.

Bill is survived by his son, Rich Tincher and his wife Leslie; his daughters, Myra Kelley and Virginia Van Kuran and their husbands Don and Pete; granddaughters, Katherine and Laurel Tincher, Kim Van Kuran Marcis and her husband Matthew and Patricia Van Kuran St. Germain; grandson, Peter Van Kuran; and great grandchildren, Leandra and Kaitlyn Van Kuran, Lyell and Whitney Marcis and Georgia St. Germain.
