To those who knew and loved him his memory will never grow old ? In loving memory of Andrew Severance Pastorius, ?Drew?, 71 1942-2013

The beloved husband of Carmela ?Lina? Pastorius passed away at their home at Menlo Park on May 3, 2013.

He was born on October 28th, 1942, in Orange, Connecticut, to loving parents Robert B. Pastorius and Katharine S. Pastorius. He was a prominent student and graduated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon from University of Richmond in Virginia, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1967. During Drew?s college years he played intramural football, soccer, baseball, and tennis with diligence and success.

Right after graduation Andrew entered the military as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Advocate General?s Division in Vietnam.

He leaves his wife of 31 years Lina Pastorius of Menlo Park; his grandson, Gino Cavallaro; his sister, Katharine Mary Pastorius, and partner, Holly, of Lutz; his brother, Dr. Robert Stephen Pastorius, and wife, Tita, of Clearwater; his nephew Robert Pastorius, and wife, Lisa, of Clearwater; two grandnephews; his step-son Massimo L. Cavallaro, and, wife, Galyna Cavallaro, of Menlo Park; and many close friends. He was a loving husband, brother, grandfather, uncle and a faithful friend to many.

Andrew retired as an optometrist from Kaiser Permanente of Redwood City in 2006. Andrew was a life-long world-wide traveler and well-seasoned camper; he enjoyed horseback riding, motorcycling, Thai food, collecting Native American Memorabilia, exploring, and good laugh. He traveled with his beloved wife Lina to many places and believed as his Mother once said that ?Life is a journey, not a destination." He will always be remembered by his extended family. Andrew?s spirit will live forever on in the hearts of his beloved family and friends.

A memorial service celebrating his Life will be given for Andrew at Alta Mesa Funeral Home?s Main Chapel in Palo Alto, CA, on May 20, 2013, at 11:30 a.m., with burial to follow at Alta Mesa Memorial Park at 01:00 p.m. Post-funeral reception will be held at one of the Andrew?s favorite places to eat, Olive Garden Restaurant of Palo Alto, at 02:00 p.m.

Those wishing to make contributions in Andrew?s memory may send donations to the Vietnam Veterans of America.

Andy was a fun loving guy. We met in HS(Amity). When my father's work transfered the family to Richmond in 1961 we connected briefly again. I was in the middle of my senior year of HS..Thanks to Andy I was able to get thru that miserable time. He will always be a special memory.

I worked with Drew, as we were both Opticians, at Kaiser Redwood City until he transferred to the Mtn. View Kaiser. I will miss his sense of humor and fun that he enjoyed in life and was very stunned to hear he had passed away. He always seemed younger in spirit than in years. He always loved our pot lucks and could hardly wait to lunch to eat! Love you, miss you.

I dated Drew when he was stationed in Buffalo, NY, in 1965/66 and remained friends when he returned from Vietnam. After losing track of each other in the 70s, we reconnected 25 years later when I met Lina and visited with them in Menlo Park. He was very special to me and will be greatly missed.

Andrew spent his summers with us during his college years, making a brother out of a cousin for me. He could eat any leftover for breakfast; lasagna, salad with blue cheese....the interesting aromas at 6am. A silly memory but it makes me smile. He will live in my heart.
