Lasting Memories

Charles (Chas) L. Dibble
April 11, 1952-March 11, 2013
Cupertino, California

Charles Lawrence Dibble (Chas) passed away on March 11, 2013 after a short but intense battle with cancer. He was born in Concord, California April 11, 1952. He graduated from Princeton University in 1974, having earned Phi Beta Kappa and a Fulbright Scholarship. Chas then obtained a PhD in history from Stanford University in 1992.

He spent thirty years, which was most of his working life, at Stanford University Hospital beginning as a part time Unit Clerk in the Emergency Room. Recently he was the Assistant Director of Access Informatics.

During vacations he explored the history, music, cultures, geography and museums of many countries including Vietnam, Peru, Guatemala, China, Nepal, Austria, Egypt, France as well as England. If you were on the list to receive his holiday photo cards, you were able to follow his travels and see some of the people he met.

Chas also loved races. He ran in the Wharf to Wharf, Run to the Far Side, Walk/Run to end Lupus, the Honolulu Marathon to name a few. He always knew he wouldn?t win, but he loved the energy of the events. He saved every race number he was assigned and when he died had a pile almost a foot high!

Chas was a warm, caring, and helpful person who will be sorely missed by friends and family. He is survived by his sisters, Dr. Suzanne Dibble and Kathleen Dibble. Memorial Services will be held at 3 pm on April 11 at Stanford Memorial Church and on July 5, at Sullivan Cemetary in Winthrop Washington.
