Faraj "Frank" Badiei, a 13 year resident of the Palo Alto, Mountain View, and Redwood City areas, died September 6, 2017 in Karaj, Iran. He was born in February 20, 1953 in Zanjan, Iran. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1981 to join his brother, who was already living in the area. He loved nature and animals, he was an avid horse rider and hiker. Faraj's favorite hiking trail was Windy Hill Preserve. In 1988, he opened a community-oriented, local cafe in Midtown Palo Alto named La Creme de Cafe, Faraj sold the business in the 1990s but the cafe remained open until 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Habibollah Badiee and Safieh Meraji. He is survived by his son, Farbod Badiei of Irvine, California; and his brothers, Fattollah Badiee of Iran; Yadollah Badiee of Iran; Azizollah "Aziz" Badiei of Iran; Jalil Badiee of Iran; Asadollah "Ruhi" Badiei of Iran; and Naserollah "Nick" Badiee of San Jose, California. And he is survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Faraj is a special person he touched so many lives for the good, and I’m grateful I had the chance to know him. Sending much love at this sad time.
