Harold Milton Partelow, a long time Palo Alto resident passed away peacefully on March 21, 2011.

Hal was born on July 8, 1923, in Hibbing, Minnesota, to Oscar and Pearl Partelow. He attended Central High School and Superior State Teachers college before enlisting in the Army Air Corps February 1943. Hal was a 2nd Lt. and pilot of a B-24 bomber. He was awarded an air medal for meritorious achievement while stationed in Italy.

Harold met is wife Marian in college pre-war. They were married after his service in WWII at St. Thomas Aquinas church in Palo Alto on Oct. 17, 1947. In 1949 Hal graduated from Stanford with an MA in Journalism and an MA in Education. Hal was a school teacher from 1964-1982 in the Mountain View/Los Altos districts. He was also a lector at St. Albert the Great parish. Hal and Marian had their home built in 1956 in the Midtown area of Palo Alto where they raised their five children.

A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Hal is survived by his sons, Mike and John, daughters, Kay, Mary and Jeanne, 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving is his sister, Doris and her husband Mike McKernan of Frederick, MD

We are so sorry to learn of the passing of Uncle Harold and are praying for your families. We didn't learn of Aunt Marion's passing until the following Christmas and want to extend our belated sympathies for your mom as well. Please feel free to email us to exchange addresses if you wish. Dear Partelow family, I send my sympathy to all of you. I remember all of you and our time on Ames Ave. Hard to believe I have lived in Novato since 1987. It is not nearly as nice here as Palo Alto. Too late to move back but it was a special place. Hope
