James Peters Wong, 97, departed this earth peacefully very early in the morning of October 2nd, 2023, at home. Jim is survived by his two children Mark Wong (Ellyn Wong), and Susanne Wong (Merida Wilson-Wong); his three grandchildren: Kelly Miller Eliyahu (Sagi Eliyahu), Samuel Wilson-Wong, and Enrico Wilson-Wong, and two great-grandsons, Geshem and Atlas. Preceding him in death his wife of 58 years, Rosie Chung Wong, eldest sister Doris Lee, eldest brother Patrick Wong, sister Daisy Wong, and brother Jack Wong. He is also survived by his brother Donald Wong, sister-in-law Sophie Wong, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Jim was born was born on March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day) 1926 in Calexico, California. He was the fourth child of six in his family. He graduated from Fairfax High School, joined the US Navy, and later attended UCLA. In 1952 Jim Wong and Rosie Chung married. Together they lived and worked in Massachusettes. Later they moved to Los Angeles, California before moving to Palo Alto and raising their family on Bellview Drive.

Jim enjoyed a long career in the Bay Area. He also enjoyed sharing his love of fishing, camping, and backpacking in his younger days. After his retirement, Jim and Rosie enjoyed many adventures traveling the world. Jim would spend the next 60-plus years of his life being a good neighbor and generous friend, an active volunteer, and community member. Jim is greatly missed by all who knew him.
