Jason Ramon Valdes, a 30-year resident of Menlo Park, died April 11, 2020, in Saratoga, Calif. He was born in San Francisco in 1964 and moved to Menlo Park in 1973 and graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School, where he lettered in baseball and basketball.
He launched a gardening and landscaping business, creating beautiful projects with consideration for attracting butterflies, birds, frogs and environmental friendliness. He also displayed his love of jazz, blues and Latin music as a host for his high school station KMAH and legendary jazz station KCSM. He was an avid fan of the 49ers, Giants, Warriors and Stanford football.
Jason is survived by his mother, Joan Merrill, his brother, Alex Valdes, and nephew, Isaias Valdes, all of Bellevue, Wash., and by his longtime partner, Laurie Gallagher, of Menlo Park, his aunt, Ruby Morgan, and his cousins, Kirk Morgan and Rae Morgan, all of Palm Springs, his cousin, Mitzi Jones, of Fort Collins, Colo., and the Valdes cousins in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Jason had close friends from all walks of life and will be missed greatly for his unforgettable personality.
