John David Weisner passed away on November 3rd 2022, at the age of 90. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and he later moved to Hollywood, CA., where he lived with his mother, Agnes. He attended Cal Tech and then U.C. Berkeley for graduate work. He met his wife, Gwen, at the International House there, and they started a family shortly after graduation. The young family moved to the SF Peninsula when John got a job at Lockheed, where he worked for 30 years.

Hiking was a passion for John. He enjoyed the High Sierra especially, but also Point Reyes and Mount Shasta areas. He loved learning new outdoors skills and took classes in snowshoeing, ice climbing, and rock climbing through the Sierra club.

He read voraciously and seldom left the library book sale empty handed. Books on physics, quantum particles, theories of time, travel in Europe, opera, etymology of language, exploration of space, and of course hiking all appear on his shelves.

He also enjoyed exotic foods, and that pastime included finding new restaurants and cooking at home, with ingredients sourced at interesting grocery stores.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gwen Weisner, and his daughter Alison Weisner. He is survived by daughter Kirsten Flynn and his grandchildren, Kyle, Fiona, and Declan Flynn.

My grandmother was convinced that John was going to be a "Ethnic" type child star. She had studio portraits done:
