Julia “Judy” Pauline Ruiz, 83, of Hutchinson, KS, died peacefully January 18, 2022, at her home. She was born January 15, 1939, in Hutchinson, to Sebastian F. and Sanjuana "Sandy" (Mora) Caudillo.

Judy attended Hutchinson High School and on August 3, 1955, she married Norman Ruiz, in Hutchinson. They settled in Palo Alto, CA where she was a homemaker, an Avon Lady, volunteered at St. Aloysius Catholic Church working in the CCD office, then became co-owner and business manager of Norman's business, Western Communications. Judy graduated from Palo Alto High School in 1974, fulfilling a promise made to her parents in 1955. Her greatest joys in life were her family, her Pekingese dogs, music, dancing, and being a homemaker.

Norman died December 4, 1996, and Judy returned to Hutchinson in June, 2019.

She is survived by: daughter, Teresa Veldof of Woodbury, MN; sons, Richard Ruiz of Sacramento, CA, Michael Ruiz currently of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Renee Ruiz LaRosa (Chris) of Milpitas, CA, Matthew Veldof of Woodbury, MN; great-grandchildren, Tyson Garcia, Lawrence and Lincoln LaRosa, all of California; sister, Irene Owston; brothers, Phillip Caudillo (Kathy), Gabriel “Gabe” Caudillo, Sebastian Caudillo II (Julie) all of Hutchinson; brothers-in-law Ronald "Ron" (Judy) Ruiz and Rudolph “Rudy” (Gloria) Ruiz, all of Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Judy was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Mary Mendoza; brother, Carmel Caudillo; and granddaughter, Kelly Marie Ruiz.

Cremation has taken place. Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. both at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Ave., Hutchinson. Private family burial will take place in Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto, CA, at a later date. The service will be live streamed at https://saintteresahutchinson.com/videos. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
