Laura Adelaide Ingels (Holmes) passed away Monday 4/20/2020 at her home in Grants Pass, Oregon peacefully. Laura is survived by her loving family: husband Daniel Holmes, daughter Robin Ingels Hardisty (Owen), Grandsons Andre and Evan Alcantar, Sister Karen Ingels Carskadon (Paul), Niece Jessica Nielsen and daughters, and extended beloved cousins in California, her dogs Sky and Beau. Laura was preceded in death by her parents Lyle David Ingels (descendant of Esbon and Pearl Ingels, Atchison, KS) , Jean Stroh Ingels, brother Gerry Esbon Ingels, Maternal Grandparents Adelaide Stroh and Gerry Stroh of Potter Valley, CA.
In addition to family life, Laura did her best to stay connected to lifelong friends made growing up in Palo Alto, California from as far back as preschool age, girl scouts and through High School at Henry M Gunn High School – still remembered for her ways of befriending/including the new kids.
Laura always found her most potent joy in the animals she cared for throughout her life. Horses (Sean/palomino) carried her on most memorable and exciting adventures a cowgirl at heart could imagine - with the best friend to outride authority when boundaries may or may not have been crossed. Her inspirations did not stop with animals, being a native Californian she loved the fact that she could go from ocean side Half Moon Bay to Tahoe ski runs in one day and have the best of both sea and snow in a matter of hours.
Laura began her role as a single mother to her only child Robin in the mid 70’s. Mother and daughter were so fortunate to have unconditional love and immense support from all immediate family members on both sides. Having such support helped foster a beautiful bond between Mother and child which was highlighted in her last short trip outside of Oregon to walk her daughter down the wedding isle.
Her best times were the rewards of hard work: waiting tables (The Fish Market, Palo Alto as just one example), sales rep for: copiers, beauty supply, Furniture and Gap retail sales, as well as Aerobic instructor. Laura continued to showcase her flare for customer service after replanting herself in Southern Oregon living in Ashland, Medford and lastly Grants Pass.
She met Daniel Holmes in 1995 and created fond memories with new friends and hobbies including gardening, river floats and game nights. Laura and Daniel were married on 12/12/12. She prided herself in cooking amazing meals nightly for her Danny and keeping all the details of home, business and family life organized for the both of them. Laura’s most successful career path was developing and sustaining All-Rite Construction with her husband. Within her last two years, Laura and Dan enjoyed some long weekends to the coast and a favorite game room not too far from the comforts of their home.
She never stopped dreaming of returning to Maui for a family vacation – her dreams were her motivation to continually rise to the challenges of cancer for her last 7 years but ultimately kept her strictly to the west coast.
