Louis Kavanau -- beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend -- died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014.

Lou was born in New York City on Feb. 18, 1931, attended New York City schools and graduated from the City College of New York. He later earned an MBA from Fairleigh Dickenson University.

He lived in Palo Alto for over 40 years and was an avid tennis player and a dedicated volunteer. He was an early member of the Silicon Valley high tech community and worked in marketing and sales for several local companies. After retiring, Lou did disaster work for the Red Cross, was a member of the Palo Alto Rotary, served on the Palo Alto Mediation Taskforce, worked on the Suicide Hotline and was a Red Coat at Stanford.

Lou is survived by his wife of 28 years, Anne Broderick; daughters, Marci Eversole, Tracy Pelley and Corrie Anderson; step-children, Peter Broderick, Lisa Broderick and Laura Walther; and five grandsons.
