Baerg, Martha Helen, passed away on April 13th, 2018 at her home in Palo Alto. She was 84. Marti, as she was known to friends and family, received both a bachelor's and master's degree in education from Occidental College. An elementary school teacher for many years, Marti taught in the cities of Ross, El Monte and Carmel. She later was awarded a second master's degree from San Jose State in clinical psychology, becoming a respected therapist in private practice for the remainder of her career. She was a volunteer at the Bay Window, a member of AAUW, and was a former president of the California Association of Marriage Family Therapists. Marti was the loving wife of William Baerg and loving mother of Bonnie Lynn Schisler & Karl Morgan Schisler. She was the beloved stepmother of Lisa Cooper, Bill Baerg, and Margaret Plavocos. Marti was the proud grandmother of Max & Ava Cooper, Mackenzie & Lauren Baerg, and Sutter, Grace & Sophie Plavocos. She was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Martha Peck and her sister Suzanne Vanderbeit. She was loved by her nephews Jefferson Smith and Lincoln Smith and cousins Nancy Stueve, Joan Witty And Carol Peck. A wise, warm and wonderful friend, she helped transform many lives. Marti now rests at Alta Mesa Memorial Park and is missed by all who loved her.
