In loving memory of Martha “Tita” Kelly Kolozsi March 21, 1935- April 22 2025
Tita Kolozsi, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and community leader passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born in Walla Walla Washington, and her early life was marked by a deep commitment to education and service. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and later received a teaching certificate from University of California, Berkeley
She began her professional life as a history teacher and counselor at Sequoia High School, where she inspired generations of students with her passion for learning and compassionate guidance. After retiring from teaching to raise her children, she continued to enrich the lives of others through tireless volunteer work and advocacy.
As a devoted mother to her two sons, Kelly and Bryan, she became an active PTA member playing a pivotal role in the passage of Proposition A, Which advanced educational opportunities for local children. When her cherished son Kelly was tragically lost to a drunk driver at 24 years old, she built an endowment in his name to annually provide UC scholarships for Sequoia Union High School District students.
Her dedication extended beyond the classroom. She was deeply involved with the Allied Arts Guild Auxiliary (supporting Stanford Children’s Hospital) celebrating 60 years of membership this year. In one of her roles at the Guild she became the Project Manager for the “Taste the Seasons” cookbook, a huge fundraising project. she also chaired several committees for the esteemed Tally Ho Horse Show.
Her creative spirit also found expression in her work as an interior designer, there she brought beauty, comfort and joy to many homes. She was an avid floral arranger and talented potter, hobbies she enjoyed the majority of her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Kelly. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years John Kolozsi, her son Bryan, his wife Andrea Ivarsson, treasured grandchildren Gunnar and Oskar Ivarsson, her brother John “Jake” Kelly his children Trek and Shiloh.
Her Legacy and compassion, and grace will live on in all the lives she touched.A celebration of live will be held at Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park on August 16, 2025 10:30am-1pm
