MATTHEW CHRISTOPHER BENOIT 55 OF GRASS VALLEY, CALIFORNIA; formerly of Sterling, MA, and Woodside, CA, died suddenly on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.

Matthew was born in Leominster, MA, on October 15, 1960, the son of Lee Benoit and Suzanne (Christie) Benoit and grew up in Sterling, MA.

He graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1978 then attended Mass College of Pharmacy, Boston.

He fell in love with California on his first visit and resided there much of his adult life in the Bay Area and in Nevada City.

Matthew married Torey (Landis) Benoit in Westfield, MA, in 1989.

He worked in construction in the Bay Area and in Nevada County.

He loved to fly, having learned from his Father, Lee. Matthew loved being social and making friends.

He appreciated the outdoors and found Nevada City, CA, to be a perfect place to settle.

Matthew married Lynette Weiss in Nevada City, CA, in 2011. Matthew was blessed with many friends, but his greatest joy in life was his children and family.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Lynette-Weiss Benoit, son Christopher Benoit and daughter Danielle Benoit; his mother, Suzanne Medbery, and her husband, Don of Dover, NH; his 3 brothers, Gregory Benoit and his wife Yong of Leominster, MA; Anthony Benoit and his wife Renee of Fitchburg, MA; and Jon Benoit of Fitchburg, MA; his sister, Christie Quijano and her husband, Miguel of VA; 3 stepdaughters, Cassondra, Brittany and Caitlin; stepson Ethan; and four grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service on November 14th at 11 AM at St. Canice Catholic Cemetery in Nevada City. The gathering following the service will be at the home that Matthew built at 10570 Mountain View Court, Grass Valley, CA. 95949 at 1 PM

Arrangements are being handled by Chapel of the Angels Mortuary. There are no calling hours.
