It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Ryan Daniel Starnes on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Ryan was born on April 25, 1994 along with his twin sister, Kimberly Starnes Heath. His eldest sister, Kelly Starnes, was born exactly five and a half years earlier, on October 25, 1988.

Born in Walnut Creek, CA and living his early life in Dublin, CA, Ryan moved to Palo Alto in 2002 with his mother and sisters. He attended Walter Hays Elementary, Jordan Middle School, and Palo Alto High School before earning his high school diploma from Palo Alto Preparatory in 2012. He later attended Las Positas and Ohlone Colleges to pursue his interest in business and communications.

Ryan is remembered for his passion for animals, sports, and music. He was especially a fan of the San Francisco Giants & 49ers, but cheered on the Florida Gators in college sports. He had a big heart, a beautiful soul, and a strong, professional work ethic. He took pride in his work for Nordstrom and later Whole Foods, where he also made some amazing, life-long friends. He was truly a one of a kind young man and was loved by everyone whose lives he touched.

Ryan is survived by his father, Stephen Starnes, his mother, Lani Sikora Kendle, his sister, Kelly Starnes and twin sister, Kimberly Heath.

A private memorial gathering has already taken place with his immediate family, but please feel free to share any words or memories you have about Ryan.

From the bottom of our hearts, we wish to personally thank those who contributed to Ryan’s Go Fund Me account. We are truly grateful for your generosity during this very difficult time.

We think about our dear Ryan all the time, miss him every day, and love him for eternity. Rest in peace, our Ryan. We love you forever.
