Lasting Memories
Simone Robinson
1935-March 2, 2010
Menlo Park, California
Simone Robinson, a native of Casablanca known among friends for her cooking abilities, succumbed to cancer in her Menlo Park home on March 2. She was 75.
Ms. Robinson grew up in Casablanca, Morocco. She met her future husband, William Robinson, there in 1952, when he was serving at a U.S. Air Force base. As neither spoke the other's language, they communicated solely through a French-English dictionary in the first year of their relationship, according to family members.
The couple moved to San Francisco in 1955, and in 1964 to Menlo Park, where they raised four boys. After the children were grown, Ms. Robinson worked as a hair stylist in Menlo Park. She was a member of the Beth Jacob synagogue in Redwood City, and was close with many of its members.
Ms. Robinson is survived by her husband, and by her four sons: Julius, Alan, Mark and Dan. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.
