The family moved to Seattle, Wash., when he was an infant and lived there until 1959. They then moved to Mountain View, Calif., where Tom attended Mountain View high school.

He moved to Sunnyvale, Calif., after getting out of the Navy. He met and married his current wife, Teryel, in Oregon. He and Teryel managed hotels on the West Coast and finally settled in Lincoln City, Ore.

Tom is survived by his wife, Teryel; brother, Mike, and his wife, Joyce, in Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Shelly, and her husband, Rick, in Vallejo, Calif.; and brother, Greg, and his partner, Richard, in Palm Springs, Calif.

Tom was my oldest brother. I just came across the above entry by Tonya Ooley. Tonya, the wallet with the picture of our grandma Tressa, was our father's. Grandma Tressa wrote the poem for our dad who was overseas during WW2. Grandma Tressa died shortly after writing the poem. I would love to receive back, as a family momento. Thanks you also for finding and keeping the box. Bless you! I'm sad to hear the house us torn down. You can contact me at gnrathbone@yahoo.com.

I was cleaning out a home in Lincoln City Oregon that was due to be demolished and came across a box of Tom Rathbone family mementos. I couldn't let it end up in the dumpster so i took them home and am reaching out to any remaining family members that these items belong to. Of the most precious is a wallet with a poem in it written by 'Mom' Tressa, to her son, 1942, titled My Blue Jacket. I am in Portland,OR and will keep safe this box i found. 503.334.9783
