Don Stutsman, a 5th generation California native and former resident of Woodside, passed quietly in his sleep. He was a resident of Woodside for 10 years, participating in community theater, The Woodside Village Church, The Mounted Patrol, The California Ski Patrol, as well as the endless weekend round-robin partying Woodside once enjoyed.
A self-teacher and boot-strapper, Don, like his father and grandfather worked as merchant marine as a tug boat operator before he fought in the Korean War as an Air Force fighter pilot, followed by an education at UC Berkeley.
He was fluent in Spanish, self-taught. His first job out of college was as a life insurance salesman, a profession he mastered famously as evidenced by his lifetime membership in the Million Dollar Round Table.
He turned a page and furthered his career as a strategic business consultant.
He was the founder and principal of Evoke Strategic Business solutions. He served several terms as the Rotary Club President in Kent Washington. He loved to fly airplanes, drive fast cars, to spend his time in the company of beautiful women, and to eat great food, drink booze, and smoke, which he did every day of his life since the age of 12.
Don is preceded in death by his former wife, Constance Barthold; his sons Wayne Stutsman and James S Stutsman. He is survived by his daughters Christine Ryland of Meadow Vista, Leslie Stepp, San Francisco and Holly Sichel, Santa Rosa. With his eye to the sky, we hope Don will find peace in the other place. Donations may be made to the Woodside Village Church.
He will be buried with full military honors at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
