I am a voice from the distant past. My brother Don and I grew up with George and Peter Browning in the '30s and early '40s. I am so saddened that I found George a month after his death. I was hoping to reestablish our old links. Many dinners and picnics. Playing in the quarry near their home, etc.
While at Varian Associates I always welcomed a phone call from George who would sing a lovely ballad before asking for help with important Varian business. Those songs made me want to do anything to further a good outcome for George and Varian. When he retired I missed him and when I read his Letters to the Editor in the Palo Alto papers over the years I realized over and over what a good man he was. I'm sorry he had to leave but happy to have met him.
