I first met John Bordy in the summer of 1961, when we both arrived at Stanford Medical School. He was a fascinating young man, who happily recalled for the rest of us his rapid nighttime departure from the Rumanian Olympic Team's living arrangements to the American Olympic Team's side. Likely would have set a record if the run had occurred during the day. He was funny, kind, and very, very intelligent. I saw this obituary while looking for an orthopedic specialist he might recommend for my grandson. Though I ended up practicing law, 400 miles away, I knew I should call him. Sadly, I found that he had passed on. He was not a person anyone could possibly forget.
It was a joy to have known John as a friend and fine orthopedic surgeon many years ago at Redwood City Kaiser Hospital. He truly was one of a kind; always happy, active, full of life with a caring for others. It was my good fortune to be with him those years. (1980-1989)
