Phil hosted me through a school program when I moved to Cal. There were a bunch of us and Phil hosted all students on his deck. Once we did barbeque together accompanied by a cute French bulldog Phil was taking care of. How lovely those days were! Phil was passionate, adventurous, and generous. I remember him being very proud when his grandson got into a top school. Phil is deeply missed by all of us.

Although I only knew Philip for a short time, he made an impact on my life. He guided me through a difficult family experience and I will never forget his kindness and support. My condolences and prayers to his family.

Phil was a dear and treasured friend. We met in graduate school, and his humor and wisdom were invaluable to me then and throughout my career. He included me in his infamous and frequent roadtrips across the country to visit family and friends, for which I will be forever grateful. The world was a better place because he was here, and I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
