I remember Wendi very well from our PSHS days. I'm sorry to hear that she has died. She was a lovely, vibrant and enthusiastic person. Diana

I'm so sorry for all her family at her loss. I remember spending some good times with both Wendy and Gary as we spent our Jr. High and High School years in Palm Springs. I have a good visual of my brother, John playing the piano with all of us around him as he played. I'm sorry that I had loss touch with the Hammond family.

Wendi was a wonderful sister-in-law. She was a fantastic mother to her children. We always admired her for her determination to make the best of her situation. She traveled the world with Bill and we know they had many great memories. We wished that we had been able to spend more time with her but she will always be in our memory and heart.

This photo was taken in July 1992 at the end of a weeklong backpack trip that included the summit of Mt Whitney. Here she is, wearing that beautiful bright smile. I am forever grateful to have had the opportunity to learn so much from her. Our friendship transcends absence, endures beyond death, will always be a part of who I am. Much love to Wendi and all of her family.

This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. The being a Force of Nature rather than a feverish, selfish little clod of grievances and ailments complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no “brief candle” for me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations. George Bernard Shaw.
