To those who knew and loved him his memory will never grow old ? In loving memory of Andrew Severance Pastorius, ?Drew?, 71 1942-2013
The beloved husband of Carmela ?Lina? Pastorius passed away at their home at Menlo Park on May 3, 2013.
He was born on October 28th, 1942, in Orange, Connecticut, to loving parents Robert B. Pastorius and Katharine S. Pastorius. He was a prominent student and graduated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon from University of Richmond in Virginia, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1967. During Drew?s college years he played intramural football, soccer, baseball, and tennis with diligence and success.
Right after graduation Andrew entered the military as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Advocate General?s Division in Vietnam.
He leaves his wife of 31 years Lina Pastorius of Menlo Park; his grandson, Gino Cavallaro; his sister, Katharine Mary Pastorius, and partner, Holly, of Lutz; his brother, Dr. Robert Stephen Pastorius, and wife, Tita, of Clearwater; his nephew Robert Pastorius, and wife, Lisa, of Clearwater; two grandnephews; his step-son Massimo L. Cavallaro, and, wife, Galyna Cavallaro, of Menlo Park; and many close friends. He was a loving husband, brother, grandfather, uncle and a faithful friend to many.
Andrew retired as an optometrist from Kaiser Permanente of Redwood City in 2006. Andrew was a life-long world-wide traveler and well-seasoned camper; he enjoyed horseback riding, motorcycling, Thai food, collecting Native American Memorabilia, exploring, and good laugh. He traveled with his beloved wife Lina to many places and believed as his Mother once said that ?Life is a journey, not a destination." He will always be remembered by his extended family. Andrew?s spirit will live forever on in the hearts of his beloved family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating his Life will be given for Andrew at Alta Mesa Funeral Home?s Main Chapel in Palo Alto, CA, on May 20, 2013, at 11:30 a.m., with burial to follow at Alta Mesa Memorial Park at 01:00 p.m. Post-funeral reception will be held at one of the Andrew?s favorite places to eat, Olive Garden Restaurant of Palo Alto, at 02:00 p.m.
