Rose E. Talmage
Aug. 23, 1919-Sept. 3, 2015
Mountain View, California
Rose peacefully passed away at the age of 96 on September 3, 2015 while surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her two sons Ron and Rick Talmage, three grandchildren Jonathan Smith, Kristen Dyke (Smith), and Victor Talmage, and six great grandchildren Chelsea, Devon, Hope, Blake, Grant, and Nolan. She is predeceased by her daughter Darlene Smith and her former husband and friend Darwin LeRoy (Tom) Talmage.
Rosie grew up during the Depression on a family farm and moved to San Francisco at the age of 18, where she first worked at IBM as a keypunch operator and eventually owned and operated her own restaurant. The family moved to Mountain View in 1954, where Rosie was an active member of the community for 61 years. She was one of the original members of Save the Cuesta Annex organization, which successfully preserved the only remaining natural parcel in Mountain View.
Rosie will be remembered for her dedication to her family, as well as her generosity towards friends, neighbors, and those less fortunate. She was also famous for her colorful jokes and laughter. Rosie was an avid dancer, and an active community member who volunteered every year at the Mountain View Arts & Wine Festival.
She will be greatly missed but her spirit and spunk will live forever.
