I'm a Japanese woman. 39years ago I stayed at Grossman's house for a month. Karen was so nice and she taught me a lot of things. I was planning to visit San Jose and I realised Los Altos was quite close. I just wanted to see Karen again and searched her name. And I just can't believe it.
My wife (Daksha Dave') met Ms. Karen Grossman at the Palo Alto Y in the Deep water running class. We valued her acquaintance. She lent us a movie, after visiting our home, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090570/ 84 Charing Cross Road that made a deep impression on us. We had a lifetime in common with her, but it was only through that brief acquaintance I realized we had met a true soul. We attended a play at the Palo Alto theatre works. I asked her what she read: "Neil ! I'm a writer ...I do not read!..." She was genuine. Good people are hard to find! - Neil and Daksha Dave'
Karen was a stalwart in a poetry book project I contributed to, a person to count on for her extraordinary common sense (which is in fact quite rare) and easy diplomacy. It's a great loss that she and her abilities have gone missing from the world.
Karen was a one of a kind. Always had an ear to lend and a kind word. Her knowledge was far reaching and she was always willing to share. I am sorry for the short time in which I knew her and will miss her very much.
I also only knew Karen for a short time but in that time she touched me in a way that only a small number have touched me. I am so sorry for the loss her family will experience! She will be missed dearly!
